So what is going on in 2020 in Mrs. Smullin's art room?

Happy New Year Golden Hill Eagles!  I can not believe we just welcomed in the year 2020!  Many exciting things are planned for the upcoming months and I wanted to take a few moments to fill you in about some of the events upcoming and happening right now.

Doodle for Google
Art contest going on NOW!

It just so happens that this year's Doodle for Google theme is "I show kindness by..."!  What a fantastic connection with our PAX program.  How can we as PAX leaders show kindness?
For those that are not familiar with the Doodle for Google contest, each year they invite students to recreate their Google logo to incorporate a theme.  Kids can use any media to create with.  In the end, the final product (which can be photographed if it uses three-dimensional materials), needs to fit on the official google entry form and be post marked by March 13, 2020.  I have set up a bulletin board about this contest outside of my art room with copies of all forms as well as the parent information letter.  If your child is interested they just need to grab the forms and create a Google logo that is inspired by this year's theme.  I am happy to collect the artwork and submit it by the deadline.  Your child can also check in with their classroom teacher, as I have sent them an email with all of the information as well.

Still want to know more?  You can also go to doodle4google.com to get all forms and more information.

Upcoming Arts Related Events:

PTO Art Fundraiser:

In the upcoming weeks I will begin having all students create a piece of art for our Golden Hill PTO fundraiser.  Square 1 Art is a company that takes an image created by your child and reproduces it on a variety of products.  I have used this company in many other school districts and love the quality at which they use to replicate student images on their various products.   Each grade will complete a piece of art that is designed around a specific theme.  Be looking in the spring for an order form and a picture of what piece of art your child created.

ALL NEW Mystery Artist of the Month

Be sure to check out January's artist of the month.  Go on over to my MYSTERY ARTIST OF THE MONTH blog post to see examples of this month's artist art work and clues!  Students need to stick a post it or small piece of paper into the envelope on the mystery artist board which includes the following:
1.Who they think the artist is.
2. Students name
3. Teacher's name or their classroom number

How will you make your mark this New Year and be a  PAX LEADER and show kindness?
